Obama Takes The Short View
There are things you can do if you're president that show you don't understand the average American or America itself, like not putting your hand on your heart for our National Anthem.

NOTE: A bit of satire on Obama from the The Arizona Conservative* jokes that Obama wanted to swap out our war-like Anthem for something else, like the classic Coke theme, "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing." Again, this was satire -- it's not true. FFM does not perpetuate rumors, false-hoods, and fabrications! However...a reliable source told us that Obama wanted our Anthem to be from another commercial, "My Baloney Has A First Name."

Obama assumes the less traditional "urinal salute." (Time Magazine, 8 November 2007)

Obama may just have a tin-ear for the American heart, as when he said to American troops, "You Guys Make a Pretty Good Photo-Op." But he doubled-down on Tinnitus last week by opting to go on The View instead of celebrate the Boy Scouts' 100th Anniversary. This was his third appearance on The View and, according to TV by the Numbers, was the most watched View ever with 6.59 million viewers. Bully, Mr. President, bully.

Number of times The View is on each year = 260.

Number of times The Boy Scouts celebrates its 100th Anniversary = 1.

Maybe it's because Obama wasn't a scout, at least in the US (he belonged to Gerakan Pramuka, the Indonesian Scout Association). Or maybe he thought, "Hey, I thought you guys got started on February 8, 1910. I can't wait around forever." Or maybe it's just that Obama doesn't get the whole American thing. Note to POTUS: Boy Scouts equals America. The View? Not so much.

I'm certain that The View would be happy to book Obama any day of the week if he'd only asked, "Mr. President, you're probably going to be at the Boy Scout Centennial so we'll wait for another day so we can -- what's that? You'd rather be sitting with four left-wing women throwing you soft-ball questions then celebrate a great American institution?"

Woof, Woof, Woof! That's My Other Dog Imitation
On The View, Obama said African Americans are, "Sort of a mongrel people. I mean we're all kinds of mixed up. That's actually true of white people as well, but we just know more about it." Obama's statement starts OK. But why couldn't he say, "But isn't that true of all Americans?" He doesn't say it because he tends to lump people into groups, which is why he can't help but speak about "African Americans" and "white people," this color and that color.

It's also more than a tongue stumble to say "we just know more about it." There's that "us" and "them" again from The Great Uniter. My German wife knows her Russian and Polish background. I know something of my European, Canadian, and Indian heritage. Obama knows his ancestry, too. Wow! Perhaps we're all genealogy brothers after all. Let's sing Kumbayah and -- oh wait, Kumbayah is sometimes sung by The Boy Scouts. Never mind.

Dropping the [D]
"You know, most of the scandals -- most of the political scandals -- in recent years have involved Republicans and they're all pretty well-known." (Wolf Blitzer, CNN, 8 December 2009) Those immortal words by Blitzer may tell you why you'll read about Democrat faux pas more on the web than on CNN or the other Alphabets. And if the MSM outlets do mention a scandal, they usually leave out the political designation if the miscreant. This is known as "Dropping the [D] for Democrat."

And Democrats do say the darndest things, like this from Representative Steny Hoyer, (D, Maryland), "We have no intention of allowing the Republican tax increase -- that their policies would lead to -- to go into effect for working Americans. Period. We're going to act and make sure that the Republican phase out and increase in taxes does not end as they provided for in the laws they passed." I'm glad Hoyer doesn't want the Bush Tax Cuts to expire, thus causing the greatest tax increase in American history. But gee, Steny, a little credit for the party that's actually fighting for it, OK? And that's Republicans, with an [R].

Democrats also do the darndest things, which causes Scott Bland of The Christian Science Monitor to discuss why nobody likes Congress. Anthony Weiner's outburst video is linked here for your enlightenment. NOTE: it is not true that Weiner suffered a burst blood vessel after this rant. Weiner is a Representative of New York's 9th District. And there should be a [D] after his name.

Wolf Blitzer must be shocked that not one but two prominent [D]s are being investigated at the same time for what Republicans are supposed to be the only ones guilty of. Read about the [D]s here.

In closing this week's edition, I'd like to quote the extremely honest, yet chilling words, of Mary Frances Berry, Professor of American Social Thought and History, U. Penn.: "Tainting the tea party movement with the charge of racism is proving to be an effective strategy for Democrats. There is no evidence that tea party adherents are any more racist than other Republicans, and indeed many other Americans. But getting them to spend their time purging their ranks and having candidates distance themselves should help Democrats win in November. Having one's opponent rebut charges of racism is far better than discussing joblessness." (Politico, 20 July 2010)
